8-Week Pottery Session – August 24 – October 19<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>

Class Description<\/h4>\n<\/div><\/div>
<\/div>

This class will teach students fundamental hand-building techniques to create pottery and sculpture. Students will also learn to use the potters’ wheel and various methods of surface decoration, including glazes, under-glazes, and stains. Class size is limited and taught by an experienced local sculptor and potter \u2013 Marty Edlin. Classes are suitable for all experience levels and are limited to 8 students. This 8-week Session starts August 24th and runs through October 19th, 2026.<\/p>\n

Class times are from 7:00 – 9:00 pm at the Mary Anderson Center Clay Studio at Mount St. Francis, Indiana.<\/p>\n

Sessions are $250 for 8 weeks – this price includes beginner clay materials, 24 Hour pottery studio access, scheduled kiln firing, and tools<\/strong><\/p>\n

Martin “Marty” Edlin<\/h4>\n<\/div><\/div>
<\/div>

Martin Edlin is an artist who works in several disciplines of traditional art media. His artwork is technically rigorous yet highly imaginative, giving shape and form to emotions and ideas in sculpture, pottery, paintings, and drawings. He studied art at the University of Louisville under renowned potter Tom Marsh and earned a Master\u2019s degree at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago under sculptor and art therapy pioneer Don Seiden. His artwork has been exhibited publicly since 1984.<\/p>\n

Martin teaches workshops for many schools and community programs with people of all ages and has been directing a community art education center for many years. He worked as a stained glass craftsman for glass artists Peter Eichhorn and Bob Markert while in high school and college and has practiced art therapy in a multitude of settings.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
