This collaborative exhibition features pottery by Marietta Willman and prints by Susan Moore, bringing together ceramic forms and layered works on paper in a shared meditation on texture, pattern, depth, and color.

Through wood-glazed sculpture, hand-built pottery, monotype, hand printing, chine collé, and collage, the exhibit highlights the expressive possibilities that emerge when materials are shaped, built up, marked, and transformed. Across both artists’ work, form is never separate from surface. Instead, texture, line, and layers of color become essential to how each piece is experienced, inviting viewers to look closely and discover subtle relationships between structure and design.

Susan Moore is a printmaker, painter, and collage artist whose work has been exhibited in California and Kentucky. Since returning to Kentucky from Southern California, she has continued exploring painting, hand printing, and collage, with monotypes and chine collés remaining an important part of her practice. Her work investigates the expressive qualities of color, pattern, texture, and form, often drawing influence from nature and everyday life. Moore’s pieces frequently include “secret writing,” small drawings, and references to the written word, adding intimacy and layered meaning to her visual language.

Marietta Willman studied History and Fine Arts at DePauw University from 1964 to 1968 and, in the summer of 1967, studied French at the Sorbonne in Paris while attending lectures at the Louvre. Her lifelong love of ceramics and sculpture has been shaped by a fascination with clay itself and with the way a drawing can become three-dimensional. She has been an active presence in the Southern Indiana arts community through the Arts Council of Southern Indiana, Art on the Green at IUS Southeast, and service on the Carnegie Board, where she supported preservation efforts and exhibitions. Her teaching career included Hazelwood Junior High and New Albany High School, where she taught ceramics, sculpture, and art. Willman also contributed to the design of Saint Mary of the Knobs Church, collaborating on stained-glass windows, furniture, the altar, and the Rosary Walk sculpture, whose Glorious Mystery received a national award. She later worked with students at IUS, created pottery and sculpture at the Mount, and co-taught “Throw for Life,” a class designed to help breast cancer survivors rebuild strength. She continues to paint in acrylic and watercolor. As Willman reflects, she has “always loved the feel of clay in my fingers and the possibility of a drawing becoming 3-dimensional.”

Fechas de la exposición:
May 28 – August 6, 2026
Galería Mary Anderson en el Monte San Francisco
101 St Anthony Dr, Mt St Francis, IN 47146

Horario de la galería:
Domingos: 11:00 a. m. a 2:00 p. m.
Martes: 11:00 a. m. a 2:00 p. m.
Jueves: 16:00 – 19:00 horas
Viernes: 11:00 a. m. a 2:00 p. m.

Recepción de apertura:
May 28 | 6:30-8:00 pm

Charla del artista:
June 25 | 6:30-8:00 pm

Fechas de la exposición:
May 28 – August 6, 2026
Galería Mary Anderson en el Monte San Francisco
101 St Anthony Dr, Mt St Francis, IN 47146

Horario de la galería:
Domingos: 11:00 a. m. a 2:00 p. m.
Martes: 11:00 a. m. a 2:00 p. m.
Jueves: 16:00 – 19:00 horas
Viernes: 11:00 a. m. a 2:00 p. m.

Recepción de apertura:
May 28 | 6:30-8:00 pm

Charla del artista:
June 25 | 6:30-8:00 pm

[96,89
post-24443","event","type-event","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","event_category-featured-franciscan-art-event","event_category-franciscan-arts-initiative
[101
event_category
]},"publishpress_future_workflow_manual_trigger":
["GET
