The Franciscan Earth Care Initiative Presents: Protecting Our Soils from Climate Change
Date: Sunday, October 25  |  4:00-5:30 PM
Location: St. Anthony Hall at Mount Saint Francis

Join us for a special afternoon of learning, reflection, and Franciscan spirituality during the Season of Creation. Our annual Earth Care Sunday gathering explores the threats climate change poses to soil health and offers practical ways to restore and protect our soils for a healthier, more sustainable future.

Our soil life and productivity are increasingly threatened by the effects of climate change. This educational program, led by Professor Hans Schmitz, will provide insight into the challenges facing our soils and explore practical ways to reverse course through healthy land stewardship. Participants will learn how protecting and restoring soil health can improve the environment, strengthen ecosystems, and contribute to a more sustainable future.

Schmitz teaches as an Assistant Professor at Vincennes University. He also serves as a technical assistance specialist with the Indiana Ag Nutrient Alliance, promoting the intersection of 4R Nutrient Management and Soil Health principles.
