Gary Jennings

Gary Jennings is a landscape artist whose work celebrates the beauty and spirit of nature. Working primarily in soft pastels, oil pastels, charcoal, and watercolors, Gary’s style is realistic yet interpretive, capturing not just what the eye sees but also the atmosphere and emotion of a place. For more than a decade, he has worked professionally, translating his love of hiking and the outdoors into works of art that resonate with viewers.

A graduate of the University of Louisville’s Hite Art Institute with a BFA in Printmaking and Drawing (1985), Gary studied under and served as studio assistant to noted printmaker John Whitesell. His artistic career has since included numerous exhibitions, with highlights such as a solo show in Atlanta, a two-person exhibition with New Orleans artist Mary Monk, and participation in the Southeastern Pastel Society International Show at Oglethorpe University. His work has also been featured at the Tim Faulkner Gallery in Louisville, KY, as well as galleries in Elizabethtown and La Grange, Kentucky.

Gary’s art is held in private and public collections in twenty-eight states and four foreign countries. Notably, the University of Kentucky Arts in Healthcare Programs has acquired fifty of his drawings and paintings in recent years, recognizing the calming and restorative presence of his work.

Through his art, Gary seeks to offer more than a reproduction of the natural world—he strives to share its spirit, beauty, and countless gifts, inviting viewers to pause, reflect, and experience the landscapes he loves.
