The Franciscan Arts Initiative proudly presents El Belén: un legado franciscano, an exhibition celebrating the enduring legacy of the nativity first envisioned by St. Francis of Assisi in Greccio, Italy. What began more than 800 years ago as a living expression of faith has blossomed across cultures and centuries into countless artistic interpretations of Christ’s birth.
This exhibition invites you to journey through the diversity of nativity scenes from around the world, each reflecting the creativity, faith, and traditions of its people. At its heart lies the Franciscan spirit: simplicity, joy, and brotherhood, qualities that first brought the story of Bethlehem to life in a small Italian village.
For the Conventual Franciscan Friars of the Province of Our Lady of Consolation, this exhibit is more than a collection of artworks; it is a witness to the Gospel made visible, a celebration of community, and an invitation to encounter the peace and hope that the nativity proclaims.
Join us in this season of reflection and joy, and experience how the spirit of Christmas continues to inspire art, faith, and connection across the centuries.
