Father Chuck Henkle, OFM Conv. brings a remarkable blend of leadership in health care and compassionate pastoral ministry. Before entering religious life, he served in senior executive roles across university-based and regional medical centers—from long-term care and outpatient surgery to nursing, medical departments, and ancillary services. He also served as President of the Maryland State Board of Nursing, held adjunct faculty appointments at the University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins University, and consulted for Quorum Health Care Management and HCA.
In 1989, he began his Franciscan formation and was ordained a priest in 1997. His ministry has included service as Pastor and Associate Pastor in parishes in Ohio and Georgia, chaplaincy at Mercy Medical Center in Lorain, OH, and since 2015, Priest/Chaplain at Mesilla Valley Hospice in Las Cruces, NM.
Father Chuck holds a diploma in Nursing from Cleveland Metropolitan General Hospital, a BS in Nursing from Ohio State University, and an MBA from Johns Hopkins University. He later earned an MA in Philosophy with a focus on Health Care and Business Ethics from St. Louis University, completed theological studies through Catholic University and the Washington Theological Union, and completed Clinical Pastoral Education training at the Cleveland Clinic.
