Friar Matthew Malek, OFM Conv. was ordained by the Archbishop of Indianapolis, Joseph Tobin, C.Ss.R, on Saturday, July 13, in the Chapel at Mount St. Francis, Indiana. He celebrated his first Mass the next day at the Chapel’s regular Sunday liturgy.

For both days, Fr. Matthew was joined by his family, friends, and Friars from across the United States. After the ordination and after the first Mass, everyone gathered for delicious luncheons prepared by the culinary staff of the Mount St. Francis Retreat Center.
Fr. Matthew’s first assignment in priestly ministry will be at St. Benedict Parish in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Friar Matthew was born in Richmond, Virginia, and raised in Lexington, Kentucky. He entered the Order of Friars Minor, Conventual, in August, 2005. He professed solemn vows on August 17, 2012. On May 13, 2013, he received his Master of Divinity Degree from Washington Theological Union in Washington, DC.
