Fr. Tom Smith, OFM Conv., Director of Holy Cross Retreat Center, took these photos on Friday, June 27. The Chapel is beginning to take shape. The construction crew installed metal supports for the rotunda walls and will be putting in a large I-beam to hold up the 38 foot long, 3,500 pound vigas. They will be installing the metal support in the eastern end of the Chapel next week.
The Chapel is being built in three phases, with the first phase estimated to be complete in December. This phase will include construction of the chapel, sidewalks, and facilities. Once this phase is complete the chapel will be open for use.
The new Chapel will seat 200 people allowing us to better serve the 5,000+ people who visit each year. The current small Chapel only seats 30 people.
