Arriving from across the country, Conventual Franciscan Friars of Our Lady of Consolation Province gathered at Saint Meinrad Archabbey for an Assembly in preparation for next year’s Provincial elections.
In addition to more than 70 OLC Friars, there were Conventual Franciscans from India, Zambia, and Central America in attendance. They listened to presentations on topics ranging from healthcare and finance to improving intercultural exchange with Friars from around the world. Discussion periods allowed time for challenges and responses, leading to better understanding of the issues involved and the work that lies ahead.
The atmosphere of the Assembly was summed up by Fr. Jim Kent, OFM Conv., Minister Provincial, who talked about his conversation with someone who has worked on evaluations of the Province and its Friars.
“He told me that ‘It’s obvious that all of you really like and care for each other,'” Fr. Jim said. “I told him that he had said that three years ago, and he replied that it was still true.”
