The 54th Franciscan International Award Dinner was held Thursday, May 10th at the Royal Cliff, Eagan Minnesota.
Father Jan Michael Joncas, a priest of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, was recognized for his contribution to Liturgy and Music. From the iconic, “On Eagles Wings,” to his more recent, “A Time of Jubilee,” Fr. Joncas has been a prolific composer of liturgical music. Besides his talent as a composer and musician, Fr. Joncas has a remarkable ability as an educator to explain the context and historical development of the Liturgy and other aspects of the Roman Catholic tradition. A popular teacher and gifted speaker, Fr. Joncas travels frequently to share his knowledge, insight and enthusiasm for Roman Catholic tradition.
