Join artist-in-residence Sean Culver for an evening of reflection, insight, and dialogue as he explores the theme Art is the Conversation—the guiding idea behind his current exhibition Mourning Glory. For Sean, art is more than a finished product; it’s a living medium, a bridge between people, and a catalyst for deeper cultural engagement.
Rooted in his long-standing interest in language, reconciliation, and the ways we build or break connection, Sean’s talk will invite listeners to consider how the words we use—and the art we create—shape the world around us. Drawing on his own experience as a visual artist, writer, and spiritual thinker, Sean will speak to the role of art as a “third presence” in the room: not just something to be looked at, but something to be in conversation with.
This event is part of Sean’s gallery residency at the Mary Anderson Gallery, during which he will be present for extended hours throughout the run of the exhibition to engage with visitors one-on-one.
Whether you are a longtime follower of Sean’s work or simply curious about the intersection of art, faith, and language—you are warmly invited to attend.

Meet The Artist
Sean Culver
For me, art is not merely what is on the wall; it is an opportunity to connect with others. It is a chance for me to engage with visitors. My primary objective with this exhibition is to explore how language facilitates either connection or disconnection and how the words we use, omit, or forget shape our culture.
This is my third exhibition in which I will be available in the gallery for extended periods—see details for dates I’ll be in residency. While I look forward to meeting visitors to the gallery and to receiving questions or critical feedback and perhaps discussing philosophical and artistic ideas, I certainly want everyone to choose to talk with me or not, so there will be no pressure to engage.
