Twenty-two friars from the Province of Our Lady of Consolation met for a retreat September 10 to 14 at Holy Cross Retreat Center in Mesilla Park, New Mexico (one of the four retreat houses run by the friars). Retreats give the friars time to pray, study, and to foster brotherhood.
Sr. Ramona Miller from the Rochester (Minnesota) Franciscans led the retreat using the writings and spirituality of St. Clare of Assisi.
Thursday evening the friars celebrated the 100th anniversary of the construction of the original home built on the site. It was also the 55th anniversary of the first retreat at the Center. Bishop Ricardo Ramirez of Las Cruces (New Mexico) spoke at the anniversary prayer service.
