Art Unplugged – Regional High School Art Juried Competition
Come and view artwork from Floyd County high school students in the first annual “Art Unplugged” a Regional High School Juried Competition. Floyd County students are exhibiting at the Mary Anderson Center Gallery from February 15th through February 28th. All submissions reference/comment/support the theme of “Repurposed Shape.” The Floyd County Opening Reception is Wednesday, Feb. 15th, from 6:00-8:00 pm. Through participation in this competition, students will have their work recognized through scholarships and public display throughout the region. The three-county competition will feature exhibits as follows:
- Floyd: Mary Anderson Center Show on Display: February 15th-28th
- Clark: Ivy Tech Community College Show on Display: March 1st-31st
- Harrison: Harrison County Library Show on Display: April 1st-30th
- Finalist Show: NoCo Arts Center Show on Display: May 9th-20thFinalist Ceremony/Reception: May 20th at 6:00pm
Seven Awards are given at each county show – Floyd, Clark, and Harrison: 9th through 12th-grade winners (4), Most Creative, Best Demonstration of Technical Skill, and Best in Show (Best in show carries with it a $500 scholarship). Out of the twenty-one county awardees, three students will be recognized during the final show. They will receive scholarship money based on the following prize structure – 1st Place ($2500 Scholarship), 2nd Place ($1500 Scholarship, and 3rd Place ($1,000 Scholarship).
