Artist Talk
Karen Boone will speak on making making healthy choices when creating art. Choices that are cleaner and less toxic for the artist, the art buyer, and the planet. Karen enjoys making my art supplies from clays and charred wood, using cruelty-free products like plant-based gesso, buying supplies from locally owned art stores like Preston’s Art Center or certified quarries, and experimenting with recycled surfaces. She connects her reasons for painting in this manner to her deep passion for the wilderness and the need to be kind to the earth. In this talk, she will speak on making art supplies, painting more freely, doing new sculpture work, hiking, backpacking, and more.
