Celebrate the opening of Mourning Glory, a solo exhibition by artist-in-residence Sean Culver, whose thought-provoking work invites viewers to reflect on the power of language, memory, and connection. Through evocative text-based paintings and assemblage sculptures, Sean renders forgotten and spiritually rich words with beauty, vulnerability, and reverence.
This special evening offers an opportunity to experience the exhibit firsthand, meet the artist, and enjoy light refreshments in the contemplative setting of the Mary Anderson Gallery. While Sean will be present to welcome visitors and engage in conversation, the reception is designed as an open, informal gathering where guests are free to explore the work at their own pace.

Meet The Artist
Sean Culver
For me, art is not merely what is on the wall; it is an opportunity to connect with others. It is a chance for me to engage with visitors. My primary objective with this exhibition is to explore how language facilitates either connection or disconnection and how the words we use, omit, or forget shape our culture.
This is my third exhibition in which I will be available in the gallery for extended periods—see details for dates I’ll be in residency. While I look forward to meeting visitors to the gallery and to receiving questions or critical feedback and perhaps discussing philosophical and artistic ideas, I certainly want everyone to choose to talk with me or not, so there will be no pressure to engage.
