Father Alberto “Beto” Bravo, OFM Conv., was born on October 6, 1994, in El Paso, Texas, and raised in the rural town of Tornillo just outside the city. Growing up in a small community shaped his values, teaching him simplicity, hard work, and a faith lived out in daily life. He graduated at the top of his class from Tornillo High School in 2013 and began an early medical school program at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. After two years, he discerned a different calling and entered the Conventual Franciscan Friars in 2015. His postulancy in San Antonio, Texas, introduced him to the rhythms of fraternity and service in the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi.
In 2019, he graduated from Our Lady of the Lake University and was later sent to Germany, where he studied the German language and experienced the Franciscan mission in an international setting. He currently resides at St. Bonaventure Friary in Silver Spring, Maryland, while studying theology at The Catholic University of America. Ordained a deacon in December 2024, he now serves at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Baltimore. In November 2025, he joyfully received ordination to the priesthood in his home diocese of El Paso. His Franciscan journey has been one of discovery, gratitude, and adventure, and he remains deeply thankful for the support of his family, friends, and brother friars.
