As part of the initiation rite into the novitiate, Friars Andrew Hennessy and Tony Martinez were invested in the Conventual Franciscan Habit last week at St. Francis Novitiate in Mishawaka, Indiana.
They were joined by seven other new novices from the other provinces in the United States.
Andrew and Tony have been formally accepted into the Conventual Franciscan Order. The year of novitiate is set aside for prayer and deeper discernment. The vows of Poverty, Chastity, and Obedience are highlighted. At the end of the novitiate year the novices make a profession of simple vows lasting for three years.
