The Chapel at Holy Cross Retreat Center in Mesilla Park, New Mexico received some help today (Thursday, 11/13). “Good Works” volunteers installed the 17-foot tall cross in the Chapel. They used a block and tackle to suspend it from one of the vigas and then lowered it into the hole in the floor.
The work for the first phase is nearing completion. The painting is basically done and only a few windows need to be installed. The cabinets are in the sacristy. Some interior doors are hung, the water line for the fire hydrant is in the ground. Tile on the lower part of the walls in the restrooms is installed. Chairs are ordered.
The new space will allow groups of 50 to 200 people to gather in joyful celebration in a church that is dedicated for prayer.
