Oberammergau

Don’t miss out on this once in a lifetime opportunity.

The Conventual Franciscan Friars are sponsoring their first pilgrimage to the 2020 Passion play in Oberammergau, Germany in August 2020, and we hope you can join us! The Passion play is offered only once every 10 years. It is a magnificent once in a lifetime experience.  Having been spared the ravages of the Black Plague, the residents of Oberammergau, Germany vowed they would present the life of Christ every ten years. The first presentation was given in 1634. The year 2020 marks the 42nd time the play has been produced. The seven-hour production includes a meal served during intermission.

Offered only once every 10 years

Fr. Wayne, Fr. Andre Cirino, and Josef Raischl will be our guides on this pilgrimage. In addition to the Passion play, our pilgrimage will include the following sites in Bavaria:   time in Burghausen; visit to the oldest Marion shrine in Germany, Altotting; opportunity to honor St. Konrad in Parzham, and prayer at the Carmelite Monastery adjacent to the memorial site of Dachau, the first Nazi concentration camp. There we will pray St. Francis’ Office of the Passion.

The trip will conclude with two reflective days led by Fr. Wayne in Maria Eck (pictured right). Adjacent to this small Marian shrine there is a Conventual Franciscan Friary and a guesthouse where we will be accommodated.
