74 friars from Province of Our Lady of Consolation gathered at Mount Saint Francis Center for Spirituality for their Province Assembly, November 8-10, 2021. Assemblies are generally times when the friars gather and receive input as well as participate in group work on a particular issue or issues facing the community; they are also great times for fraternity! This Assembly served as a time of preparation and reflection for the 2022 Ordinary Provincial Chapter. During the Assembly, friars listened to reports from the Minister Provincial, Fr. Wayne Hellmann, OFM Conv, the chairmen of various province commissions and the Executive Director of the Mission Advancement Office. The friars also broke into small groups to address upcoming issues facing the province.
Friars also submitted their three top choices to serve as Minister Provincial from 2022-2026. The six friars who received the most votes participated in a panel on the last day of the Assembly. Each of these friars shared their responses to a set of questions they received in advance. There was also a time allotted for individual friars to pose their own questions to the panel.
The first session of the Ordinary Provincial Chapter will be from May 16-19, 2022 at Mt. St. Francis. The second session will be held at Holy Cross Retreat Center, Mesilla Park, NM from July 18-21, 2022. Please keep the friars in prayer during this special time.
