The weather was great for the concrete floor pour for the new chapel being constructed at Holy Cross Retreat Center in Mesilla Park, New Mexico. The crew worked from 5:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. spreading seventeen loads of concrete.20140525_6e

Retreat Center Director Fr. Tom Smith, OFM Conv., blessed the site and provided breakfast burritos for the crew to grab as they worked because they couldn’t stop until the work was finished.

The chapel will be built in three phases, with the first phase estimated to be complete in late December. This phase will include construction of the chapel, sidewalks, and facilities. Once this phase is complete the chapel will be open for use.
