Artist Statement
Cozad (Terry) Taylor, a photographer, artist, writer, and interfaith leader, presents “Sublimations”; a retrospective that spans both his artistic journey and his decades-long efforts, as Executive Director of Louisville-based Interfaith Paths to Peace, to improve understanding among members of the world’s great religions.
“Sublimations” will be exhibited January 16, 2025 through February 28, 2025, in the Mary Anderson Gallery at Mount St. Francis in Floyds Knobs, Indiana. An opening reception will be held at 6:30 pm on Thursday, January 16. Mr. Taylor will present an artist’s talk in the gallery on February 6, 2025, at 6;30 pm.
“Sublimations” will comprise nearly 40 of Taylor’s photographs, as well as samples of his 3-D art, including a ransom note quilt, a cyanotype kimono, a Lego portrait, and an 18-foot-long watercolor painting.
A key component of “Sublimations” will be a few examples taken from what the artist refers to as his “Ephemera.” These are small, colorful, pieces of art that he has been producing every morning for 9 ½ years. The Ephemera now total more than 3,500.
This exhibit invites viewers to explore the intersection of art, technology, spirituality, and peace, where the boundaries of visual representation and personal transformation meld into a harmonious whole. The title, “Sublimations”, itself holds a dual meaning. It refers both to the technical process by which Taylor’s photographs—captured using an iPhone—are printed into (not onto) metal, and to the transformative quality of using creativity to find deeper meaning in everyday experiences.
Over the years, Taylor has shared his creative vision through solo exhibits at the University of Louisville, Bardstown Gallery on the Square, and numerous other art venues throughout the region.

Meet The Artist
Cozad Taylor
Cozad (Terry) Taylor is a photographer, artist and writer who lives in Louisville, Kentucky.
His primary medium is photography but for more than 9 years he has also kept a daily visual journal of micro paintings and other art. He posts these works on Facebook each morning.
Taylor has had the honor of being the subject of one-person exhibits (primarily his photographs) at University of Louisville Library, St. Catherine College (before it sadly closed), Bardstown Gallery on the Square, Louisville’s Jewish Community Center, All People’s Unitarian Church, the Baha’i Center of Louisville, the Center for Women and Families, and Drepung Gomang Center for Engaging Compassion.
Taylor produces his photographs with an iPhone camera. They are then printed on metal using an innovative process called sublimation.
He earned a BA in Philosophy and English from the University of Indianapolis, an MA in Journalism from Ball State University, and an MFA in the Book Arts from the University of Alabama.
He is the retired Executive Director of Louisville’s Interfaith Paths to Peace. In 2012 Leadership Louisville named him one of the city’s top “‘Connectors.’ He is also the author of “A Spirituality for Brokenness” (2009, Skylight Paths).
