Friar Bob decided to thoroughly clean one of the refrigerators in the Washington, DC friary. After removing the shelves, and cleaning them, he needed to re-install them and was having great difficulty with one shelf in particular. Exasperated, friar Bob prayed out loud to Jim Hand, the late head of maintenance at Mt. St. Francis. “Jim could fix anything and I called out, ‘Jim Hand, help me to get this shelf back in the refrigerator!’ ” Friar Bob grabbed the shelf and it slid into place without a hitch. “I not only ask the intercession of officially canonized men and women, but the holy men and women I have been privileged to know who are now in eternity. They always come through for me.”
“Remember when you leave this earth, you can take with you nothing that you have received – only what you have given.”
